RACKABLE SYSTEMS ANNOUNCES ADOPTION OF NEW LOW VOLTAGE DUAL CORE INTEL® XEON® PROCESSORS

-- Industry's Most Power Efficient Servers Leverage New Low Voltage Offering --

MILPITAS, Calif., February 7, 2006 – Rackable Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: RACK), a leading provider of servers and storage products for large-scale data centers, today announced availability in Q1 of servers based on the new Dual Core Intel® Xeon® processor Low Voltage 2GHz (codenamed Sossaman). Integrated across Rackable Systems' efficient line of servers, a typical configuration featuring the new dual core processors draws a peak of 115 watts, achieving high performance per watt.

"This is an exciting step in the evolution of the Xeon processor," said Giovanni Coglitore, founder and CTO of Rackable Systems. "As we continue to lead the market with highly efficient, power-conscious servers and storage, we are confident that our customers will appreciate the improved performance per watt that makes 'Sossaman' so compelling."

The Dual Core Intel® Xeon® processor LV 2GHz will enable Rackable Systems customers to leverage leading performance with low power consumption, higher reliability and increased efficiency. Based on the widely deployed Intel® E7520 server chipset, the new processors feature Enhanced Intel SpeedStep® Technology (EIST) to reduce power consumption while matching performance to application demands.

"The combination of Rackable Systems' thermally-efficient server designs and the new Dual-Core Intel® Xeon® processor LV 2 GHz is a compelling solution for high-density, thermally challenged data centers," said Kirk Skaugen, vice president Digital Enterprise Group and general manager of Server Platforms Group at Intel. "This advancement is part of Intel's strategy to deliver platforms with ever-increasing performance per watt."
