SELECTS RACKABLE SYSTEMS AS SERVER SUPPLIER
MILPITAS, CA, AUGUST 9, 2005 –
Rackable Systems, Inc., (NASDAQ: RACK) a leading provider of servers
and storage products for scale out data center deployments, today
announced an agreement to supply Amazon.com with servers to power
its retail web sites. Amazon.com selected Rackable Systems' rack-mount
Foundation Series servers for their unmatched density, flexible
configurations and efficient thermal management.
Under the terms of the agreement, Rackable Systems will provide Amazon.com
with Foundation Series servers, enabling Amazon.com to increase server
density and performance per square foot enabling the lowest total
cost of CPU cycles. Rackable Systems' open architecture approach
to design provided the flexibility and customization Amazon.com required.
